Worksongs with Native Gardens at Bagaduce Music

We will assist the Native Gardens group in their work at the fabulous Bagaduce Music gardens. Come spend a morning belting out songs surrounded by the peace of beautiful native plants on the Bagaduce Music campus.

All are welcome, please bring gloves, clothes, and footwear suitable for garden work.

An evening with singing farmer Bennett Konesni, founder of the Worksong Project. How have people around the world made their work easier by using the music as a joyful, productive tool? Discover the surprising similarities and differences between the sea shanties of Maine and the hollers, calls, and yodels from the world’s farmers, fishermen, and herders.

This performance will not only be thought provoking it may also give you some tunes you can whistle while you work in your own dooryard. During this participatory concert, Bennett will be joined on stage by participants of the different events during Bagaduce Worksong Week, celebrating and sharing songs amongst participants in the different programs.

Join us in a 10-oar Bantry Bay Gig as we revive old Sea Shanties from Maine and beyond. Grab an oar and bellow with the crew as we explore Blue Hill Harbor.

Rowers meet in Horton Emerson Park at Blue Hill Town Landing, downtown Blue Hill.

Suggested Donation $20 per person, we’ll pass the hat at the boat.

All participants in the rowing programs should be comfortable on the water.

Prior rowing experience is desirable but not required. Lifejackets provided, but bring your own if you want to!

***Only 12 seats available, please sign up early to avoid disappointment. Participants may be asked to rotate off of oars if we fill all 12 seats.

Based on his 20+ years of researching and developing worksongs for modern contexts, Bennett Konesni will choose a bunch of songs great for simple gardening tasks like planting, weeding, and mulching with friends. Stick around for the phenomena that is Tuesday Night Wood-Fired Pizza Night at Tinder Hearth and a free concert by Belfast’s Worksong Community Chorus.
